About Councilman Anthony Bonna Sr.
Anthony Bonna, Sr. moved to Port St. Lucie with his family in 1990 and has spent most of his life in the community he now serves.
Growing up in Port St. Lucie, Anthony attended local public schools, earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 445, and benefited from organizations that helped shape his future, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rotary scholarship programs, and the St. Lucie County Education Foundation. Those experiences taught him the importance of service, personal responsibility, and giving back to others.
After graduating from Georgetown University with a degree in Finance, Anthony returned home to build a business, raise a family, and serve the community that invested in him. Today, many of the organizations that once helped Anthony are the same organizations he now serves.
Anthony is Immediate Past Chairman of the St. Lucie County Education Foundation, serves on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties, has been a Rotarian since 2015, serves on the Parish Council at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, and volunteers with Scouting and numerous community organizations.
Anthony's commitment to leadership also led him to complete Leadership St. Lucie Class 34, Leadership Martin County Class 27, and Leadership Florida Connect Class 14.
In 2018, Anthony was appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott to serve on the St. Lucie County Commission. He was later elected to the Port St. Lucie City Council, where he has served on numerous local and regional boards, including as Chairman of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council. He has also served on the City's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the St. Lucie County Homelessness Task Force, the Port St. Lucie Opioid Task Force, and other community initiatives.
Anthony has been a strong advocate in the fight against human trafficking. Under his leadership, Port St. Lucie was recognized as a Trailblazer of the Year by the Florida Alliance to End Human Trafficking, and he and the city were recognized by then-Attorney General Ashley Moody for efforts to raise awareness, train employees, and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
Professionally, Anthony is the founder of The Good Help Group, a marketing and consulting firm serving businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations.
Anthony and his wife, Tara, live in Port St. Lucie with their children, Aubrey, Anthony Jr., and Adele. He considers helping residents navigate government and solve problems one of the most rewarding parts of public service and encourages residents to reach out whenever he can be of assistance at councilmanbonna.com or on his cell phone, 772-251-9140.
